During Fiscal Year 2025, JobsFirst NYC operated at the intersection of local resilience and global transformation. As the nation navigated a volatile labor market shaped by the rapid ascent of artificial intelligence and shifting economic demands, our commitment remained steadfast. As an intermediary, we recognize that in an era of constant change, our role is not to fill individual jobs but to architect the systems that distribute opportunity. We are the bridge-builders, dedicated to improving economic mobility by creating the pathways to education and employment that our modern economy requires.
By staying in touch with the pulse of the market and centering the creativity of the rising generation, we successfully strengthened systems that reached more than 10,000 New Yorkers this year.
NYC Systems Innovation
In New York City, our Solutions teams advanced the “connective tissue” between institutions, while keeping youth voices at the heart of our design process:
• Work Solutions: Strengthened the workforce ecosystem by launching a Tech Employer Roundtable that centered early-careerist feedback and skills-first hiring. Piloted a “no wrong door” talent referral process for the technology, healthcare, and green economy sectors.
• Education Solutions: Scaled the Transfer to Career Collaborative and launched Pathways Beyond Graduation to create seamless transitions from high school to postsecondary education, including a career-connected curriculum for the new Northwell School of Health Sciences.
• Community Solutions: Supported six place-based partnerships in catalyzing community-driven economic strategies. By advancing local skills-building and collective problem-solving, we translated shared vision into lasting mobility, evidenced by the opening of the first full-service restaurant in Brownsville and the scaling of neighborhood-led safety and workforce ecosystems.
National Reach
Beyond New York City, CommunityINC partnered with leaders in Northeastern Pennsylvania and Southern Nevada to identify regional pathways to economic mobility. We also launched JobsFirstUSA to formally extend our 17 years of proven practice to other regions across the country, recognizing that building inclusive local infrastructure is now a national imperative.
Strategic Growth and Visibility
Our leadership and insights gained national attention through a CBS News profile of the Brownsville Hub Cooperative, along with additional coverage of JobsFirstNYC’s work by The Brian Lehrer Show, Schneps Connects, Caribbean Life, and PoliticsNY. To ensure that our impact is as enduring as it is broad, we refined our priorities through the Morgan Stanley Strategy Challenge and collaboration with The Bridgespan Group.
Leadership Transitions
We are pleased to welcome Angela Ortiz and Greg Hambric as our new board Co-Chairs and thank Alan Momeyer for 12 years of dedicated leadership as he transitions to Chair Emeritus. As we look toward the future, we remain inspired by the resilience of our partners.
