This is a space dedicated to sharing updates from the Green Economy, Healthcare, and Tech Networks; reporting on goals and insights, relaying program openings and recruitment opportunities, and fostering cross-network collaboration.
Sector Network leaders participated in an interactive systems change exercise, mapping both successes and areas for expansion to levers of the workforce development system: Rules, Money, Users, Vehicles, Movement, Frame, Culture, and Infrastructure.
Sector Synergy and Systems-Change
Leads from the Green Economy, Healthcare, and Tech Sector Networks convened to examine where cross-sector collaboration is producing results and where coordinated action can accelerate progress. Using JobsFirstNYC’s Systems Change Framework, the session focused on how Sector Network partners are advancing systems change across practice, policy, and funding, and where the networks can push impact further in the year ahead.
The conversation surfaced several bright spots and reinforced what participants described as a growing “abundance mindset” across the networks, viewing workforce solutions as shared infrastructure rather than separate initiatives competing for limited resources. Solar One and Year Up United shared plans to pilot the integration of Year Up United’s Career Labs digital literacy and durable skills curriculum as an extension for graduates of Solar One’s technical training. The pilot responds to a need identified during the October leadership session: the increasing importance of durable skills across training pathways. By layering Career Labs with Solar One’s technical training, partners are testing a new cross-network collaboration that represents practice-level systems change.
Priorities Surfaced:
Build a framework for pursuing partnership funding opportunities, assessing them against the real cost of collaboration, workforce training, and cross-organization work.
Host a funder briefing highlighting the achievements of the Sector Networks and their progress through the Implementation phase of JobsFirstNYC’s 5-I Process.
Strengthen shared messaging for all members to communicate the role and results of the Sector Networks.

The Green Economy Network invites you to join us for their second annual Clean Energy and Green Careers Expo at Fordham University School of Law on May 29, 2026! GEN will partner with Fordham University to bring clean energy employers, training providers, and career pathways to Fordham’s Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan. Modeled after last year’s expo, we are seeking interactive workshops, panelists, training demonstrations, and employment opportunities that showcase the breadth of training and careers in the clean energy economy.

Strengthening Referral Structures
The Healthcare Sector Network’s Referral Task Force is underway for the winter admissions season, with 10 referrals to date. After testing different approaches to streamline handoffs between partners, the group is moving forward with a “Find the Right Training for Me” tool modeled after the Green Careers Council’s version.
The tool is designed to assess both eligibility and interest, two gaps that surfaced as especially important for Train & Earn programs with strict entry requirements. The January Careers in Care focus groups reinforced that when cohorts are aligned in motivation and genuine interest in the field, participants get more out of the experience. The tool will also serve as a centralized entry point for referrals from organizations outside of HSN.

Architecting New Pathways for NYC’s Tech Talent
The Tech Sector Network is excited to launch its Voices from the Frontline campaign, inspired by a series of employer roundtables and young adult focus groups that uncovered the systemic gaps in hiring and training in top tech roles, particularly around the economic power of social capital and skills-based hiring. This storytelling effort brings the personal experiences of tech workforce development to life, highlighting the challenges on the ground and the field-driven call to action. Data collection kicks off later this spring.
