JobsFirstNYC’s Response to COVID-19

Dear Partners,

JobsFirstNYC has been working with you to address long-standing socio-economic conditions that affect the well being of young adults and their communities. We value your partnership and will continue to do this work together with you. Without your steadfast commitment to connect young people and your communities to economic opportunities and mobility, the progress we see today would not be possible. Today’s public health crisis reinforces the economic challenges we face in our communities and the financial insecurities faced by the institutions that serve them.

The health and wellness of our communities are top priority, as we monitor the current and evolving situation of this public health challenge and follow closely the directives of the Federal, New York State and City governments.

Given this national emergency and the need to limit travel and gatherings, we believe that it is most responsible to support our communities by taking the following actions effective immediately and will be in effect until further notice:

  1. JobsFirstNYC team working remotely: JobsFirstNYC will close its physical offices and all staff will work from home starting March 16, 2020. We remain available through email and phone to continue our work together.
  2. Postponing in-person group convenings: All in-person group convenings are being postponed while we explore new ways for us to continue our work together.
  3. Building capacity to continue our work together online: We remain deeply committed to continuing our work and finding innovative economic solutions, work that may be even more critical during and after this global public health crisis. We are working to transfer as many meetings — small group check-ins and large group Learning Communities and Design Labs — to video and teleconferencing. We understand organizations may take some time to transition to remote work, and will adjust meeting dates/times to your schedules as needed.

JobsFirstNYC stands with you during this time. We will be connecting with you to learn how best to support you and continue our important work together.

Sincerely,

Marjorie D. Parker

President and CEO
